Server and data center equipment retirement

A few failed servers, a storage refresh or a larger equipment changeout can create urgent disposition questions. eLake coordinates the accepted equipment stream, data handling and downstream recycling so your team can retire assets without treating every project like a full data-center closure. Where equipment qualifies, Value Recovery can be considered alongside documented disposition.

Recycling Certificates & Project Records

Retain the certificates and project records agreed for your business electronics recycling project. ESG reporting can also be included to support your organization's reporting needs.

Certificate of Recycling
Receive customer certificates for electronics processed through the agreed recycling route.
Certificate of Data Destruction
Receive destruction certificates where included data-bearing assets undergo the agreed destruction service.
Asset Inventory Manifest
Keep a record of the equipment included in your business recycling project.
Disposition Report
Document the completed equipment recovery, recycling and responsible downstream outcome.

Why choose eLake

You get a practical path from retired hardware to accountable closeout, with data handling and customer records aligned to the agreed service.

Data handled with purpose

Apply wiping/media sanitization or physical destruction to applicable data-bearing media, with Proof of Erasure and customer documentation when included in the agreed service.

Records for the retirement

Receive applicable records such as an Asset Inventory Manifest, Chain of Custody Record, Disposition Report and Certificate of Recycling for customer review.

Recovery considered separately

Qualifying enterprise equipment may be evaluated for Value Recovery through direct purchasing or resale on your behalf, while non-reusable assets follow recycling disposition.

Common questions

Do a few retired servers require a full data-center decommissioning?

No. This service can address a focused group of obsolete, failed or end-of-life servers, drives or networking devices. A broader decommissioning is not required when the need is limited equipment retirement.

How is data handled on retired server and storage equipment?

Applicable media can undergo wiping/media sanitization or physical destruction. NIST SP 800-88 Rev. 2 is used as guidance, and Proof of Erasure or an applicable Certificate of Data Destruction can be provided when agreed.

What records can accompany the recycling project?

Depending on the agreed service, records may include a Certificate of Recycling, Disposition Report, Asset Inventory Manifest, Chain of Custody Record and Erasure Proof. The applicable set is established for the project.

Can eLake buy surplus enterprise equipment?

Qualifying equipment may be considered for Value Recovery through direct purchasing or resale on your behalf. Not every asset has recovery value; non-qualifying equipment can proceed through documented recycling disposition.
